According to your budget, media platform and target audience, we set a production plan and agenda with you. We combine multiple approaches to creating content such as concept, rhythm, story, structure and design. At Better Future Films, we are aware that the role of each of these aspects will successfully captivate your audience. We're convinced that these elements, edited with a great opening that grabs the audience, and a closing that ties it all together, are all equally important.
Well, let's say our capabilities are limitless. From hiring talent or technicians, to renting state of the art camera equipment or enlisting recognised directors, we can provide you with the equipment, the facilities, or the team that your budget can afford.
From eye-popping to elegantly subtle effects, we love creating custom special effects, as well as focusing on important aspects of post-production such as colour grading, rhythm, tone, and soundtrack. We usually keep the client involved in the editing process, where he or she can provide feedback and guidance. Our editing suite is composed of the most up to date software (Final Cut X, Premiere, Resolve, Motion and After Effect), enabling us to create visually and emotionally beautiful films.
Extensive projects such as feature length documentaries or commercial films are our ambition. We're keen on forging partnerships with major players in the television industry and post-production companies, particularly those with knowledge of logistics, complex editing processes and distribution.
film productions and branding
We promote organisations, start-ups, companies and products with distinctive visuals and engaging stories through our films. From engaging social content to video presentations and product videos, we serve as a full-service partner to develop and bring concepts to life. From witty humor to impactful stories, and visually amazing footage, we are passionate about bringing you satisfaction on every stage on your film project. We thrive and will inspire you in making your brand film!
School projects
Students choose their projects: a news report, a mini-documentary or a short fiction. These three genres each require different writing and production techniques. Students interested in creating a short fiction piece will become familiar with writing scripts, storyboards, filming language and general principles of cinematography whilst the other two types of projects will explore the principles of documentary filmmaking and journalism, which involve sound research skills, fact checking, writing and filming so as to make your material relevant and sizzle to life.
FICTION: CAST & CREW
Students involved in a fiction film project have the opportunity of either being part of the cast (actors/actresses) and/or the crew. As part of the crew, many responsibilities and positions are available (i.e. the screen writer, the director, the script supervisor, the assistant director, the camera operator, the boom operator, etc.)
News piece news story
Making a "news story" requires generally a three person (or three student) crew: the camera operator (who is often also in charge of the audio recording), the interviewer/journalist, and the (video) editor, although some journalists are able to do it all ... Writing for broadcast journalism is quite different from any other writing styles. Students learn the fundamentals and tips to keep the audience engaged (i.e. by answering the essential top six questions in as little time as possible: Who, What, When, Where, How and Why).
MINI DOCUMENTARY
While gathering facts and searching for leads on interesting characters and on potential stories, students often discover that the gems of their story are sometimes buried deep out of sight, but revealed while filming or gathering information. It is important to keep an open mind where the primary character might change, or a more interesting aspect of the story might arise... By establishing the core story points and by exploring great existing documentaries, students find the inspiration and the style they need to tell their own stories.
HANDS ON FILMING
During the initial practical training and over the course of their project, students will have the opportunity to handle professional camera equipment, as well as the audio and lighting equipment necessary for their film productions. While students involved in a fiction project practise and learn the purpose of the various camera movements and angles, along with the film language, students involved in the production of a documentary or of a news story will learned how to set-up and use the required equipment in a variety of settings.
HANDS ON VIDEO EDITING
Editing is a phase as equally important as filming, and where students get great satisfaction in the creative film process. As novice video editors they will become familiar with important notions of video editing and techniques, experimenting with various transitions and filters, as well as colour grading, mixing multiple audio tracks, and cutting and assembling shots into a coherent, desired sequence. Whether it be a fiction, a "news piece" or a documentary project, the basic techniques remain the same.
